Egyptian football player Mohamed El-Zenary announced Sunday that he sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury while training at home due to the coronavirus quarantine.
"Scans revealed that I had torn my anterior cruciate ligament after bruising my knee during a training session at home," explained the 21-year-old who currently plays as a defender for Egyptian Premier League side Haras El-Hodoud.
Earlier in March, all Egyptian football activities were suspended indefinitely over the worldwide coronavirus outbreak.
"I will undergo a surgery next week and then will start a rehabilitation programme," the player added.
Ahead of the league's suspension, Haras El-Hodoud were at 12th place in the league table with 19 points from 17 matches, 30 points behind leaders and title holders Ahly.
