Ahly file fresh complaint to Egyptian FA over Abdallah El-Said's move to Pyramids

Cairo giants Ahly said on Saturday they have filed a fresh complaint to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) over Abdallah El-Said's move to Pyramids FC in January 2019 after being told that FIFA had no jurisdiction on the matter.

Ahly believe they should receive $2 million from Jeddah-based club Ahli over a breach of an agreement they struck regarding El-Said's move to the Saudi club in the summer of 2018.

The agreement stipulates that the Jeddah club should pay a penalty to Ahly if El-Said joins an Egyptian club during the duration of his contract.

Ahli Jeddah argue that they had terminated the veteran playmaker's contract before he sealed a move to Pyramids.

"The complaint came after the club received FIFA's response that it was no longer entitled to resolve the dispute … because the player is currently in the ranks of an Egyptian club, and therefore the matter has become an internal one that falls under the responsibility of the Egyptian FA," Ahly said in a statement.

El-Said, one of the mainstays of a powerful Ahly side in the past decade, was involved in a bitter dispute with the club when he signed a deal with his team's Cairo nemesis Zamalek in early 2018 as his contract approached its end.

He then backtracked on his decision and opted to stay at Ahly, who were still intolerant, punishing the player by telling him he had no future at the club.

El-Said then spent two months on loan at Finnish club KuPS before joining Ahli Jeddah in the summer of that year. His brief tenure in Saudi Arabia was brought to an end after he moved to Pyramids in January 2019.

"The administration backed up its complaint with a copy of the tripartite contract signed by the club, Ahli Jeddah and Abdullah El-Said, which stipulated in one of its main clauses that the player is not entitled to join any Egyptian club throughout the period of his contract with Ahli Jeddah," the statement read.

"In case of any violations of this agreement, the club shall receive a penalty of two million dollars."

Ahly have previously submitted a similar complaint to the EFA, which also said it had no jurisdiction because the issue involved a foreign club -- in reference to Ahli Jeddah.
