Wolfsburg Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush has signed a new deal that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2023, the club announced on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old made his debut on 26 May during his club’s 4-1 victory against Bayer Leverkusen, where he entered the game as a substitute in the 76th minute.

“My dream of playing for the first time in the Bundesliga has been accomplished, and I feel very happy and grateful for the opportunity that I got,” Marmoush said after signing the new deal.

“I also thank Wolfsburg for the confidence they gave me, and I will give the team all my best,” he added.

Marmoush joined the Bundesliga side from Egypt’s Wadi Degla in 2017, and played in the U-23 team, scoring 10 goals after 34 participations. After his debut he made four appearances with the first team with total of 47 minutes.

The club’s sports director Marcel Schäfer praised the Egyptian, saying, “Omar has evolved a lot since last year and presented himself with a splendid performance with the U-23 squad, then with the first team while he’s taking his first steps in the Bundesliga.”

“Now he has to adjust to the league step by step to reach the next stage. We are happy to witness his continuous development with us because it shows how we give our youth the opportunity to be professional players,” Schäfer explained.
