Field Marshall Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, head of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF), has officially informed Ahly that their match against Ethiopian Coffee in the
African Champions League can be played at the Military Stadium in Cairo on 8 April.

The armed forces will be responsible for securing the stadium.

The Ethiopians arrive in Cairo on Wednesday and will train at the stadium in preparation for the match.

Ahly have printed 23,000 tickets which will go on sale Wednesday.

The six-time African champions on Saturday received a letter from security officials at the interior ministry saying they could not play the game in Egypt, citing security concerns.

However, Ahly's management asked Tantawi to end the current saga as the team would be punished by the Confederation of African Football if they changed the game's venue, prompting the SCAF's announcement that they would secure the stadium.  

The interior ministry has declined to secure any match in Egypt following the Port Said disaster which left at least 70 fans dead on 1 February. The Egyptian Premier League season was cancelled earlier this month.

The first leg of the round of 32 clash ended in a goalless draw in Ethiopia.
