Egypt kicked off the Handball World Championship with a lavish ceremony at Cairo's venue on Wednesday, one hour before the national team open their campaign with a game against Chile.

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi gave a speech to inaugurate the tournament, which will run from 13-31 January.
