The Zambian sports minister says national football team coach Renard 'must learn to keep his cool'

Zambian sports minister Chishimba Kambwili hit back at Herve Renard after the coach expressed resentment against authorities for the team’s late arrival to a World Cup qualifier.

The French boss, who steered Zambia to a historic African Nations Cup triumph earlier this year, was angry with the travel arrangements made by the government before their game in Sudan on Saturday.

Zambia arrived in Sudan on a commercial flight just one day before their opening Group D game, which they surprisingly lost 2-0.

However, Kambwili insisted Renard should not have made his comments public.

"It is unprofessional and undisciplined for Renard to attack the ministry officials in the press. Renard should have used proper channels of communication," he was quoted as saying by Zambianfootball.net.

"He should have waited for a report to be presented on what transpired before rushing to the press. Herve Renard must learn to keep his cool; anyway I will wait for a report."

Zambia host heavyweights Ghana on 9 June in a tough Group D encounter. Zambia beat the Black Stars 1-0 in the Nations Cup semi-final in February.
