Mali midfielder Seydou Keita has expressed his pleasure after Mali beat Algeria 2-1 in Group H of the African World Cup qualifiers on Sunday.
"I am pleased that we achieved this big victory over Algeria" Keita told reporters after the game, adding "this victory will help us during the remaining games of the qualifiers."
"I send this victory for the Malian people who lost against Benin in the previous round," Keita said.
On the other hand, Algeria captain Madjid Bougherra suggested that his players were responsible for the loss to Mali. "Mali's team was not better than the Algerian one but our performance in the game helped them to win the game," Bougherra said.
"We should forget the defeat and concentrate on the coming games," he added.
