The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has ordered Ghana's Berekum Chelsea to play their African Champions League game against Egypt's Ahly at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The Ghanaian club had officially asked the CAF to move the match to the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi to allow more fans to attend the game, but the request was rejected.
Ahly recently lodged a complaint with the CAF asking that the match venue not be changed because any change must be announced ten days before the match date according to CAF rules.
“I can confirm we have been told to play in Accra and therefore we have no other option but to obey,” Chelsea’s Chief Executive Officer Nana Kwame Nketia was quoted as saying by GHANAsoccernet.com on Tuesday.
Six-time African champions Ahly are on top of Group B with three straight victories, and hope to maintain their 100 per cent record with a victory against Chelsea in Ghana.
Chelsea need to sink the Red Devils to revive their hopes of reaching the last four.
