Ahly attacking midfielder Walid Soliman will undergo medical tests to determine the seriousness of a knee injury he sustained in the 3-3 draw with Nigerian side Sunshine in the semis of the CAF Champions League.

"Soliman will undergo medical tests on Thursday to define the period he needs to recover from his knee injury," read a statement on the Ahly's official website.

The 27-year-old midfielder left Egypt national team camp in Emirates after the medical staff made sure of his injury.

"He underwent scans before joining the Pharaohs camp but he returned Thursday as Egypt medical staff made sure of his injury," the statement added.

Soliman has been one of the Red Devils’ most impressive performers lately, thanks to his pace and dribbling skills down the flanks.

"Ahly's doctor decided to let the player undergo medical tests to determine the period he will stay on the sidelines."

Moreover, Red Devils' striker El-Sayed Hamdy has been sidelined from Thursday's trainings because of flu.

"Hamdy watched Thursday's trainings from the bench as he suffers from flu, and he needs for two days to return to actions again," the club announced.

The six-time African Champions League title holders are preparing for the home match against Sunshine Stars on 21 October, after the first leg finished in a 3-3 draw in Nigeria last week.
