Zamalek chairman Mamduh Abbas has announced that the board is sticking with the current technical staff under the helm of Brazilian manager Jorvan Vieira.
"Vieira is an outstanding coach but the current circumstances in Egypt have not helped him prove his abilities. He will continue coaching the first football team," Abbas was quoted as saying by Middle East News Agency (MENA) on Tuesday, contradicting many local reports that have claimed that the tactician will depart.
All football activities have been suspended in the country since thePort Said disaster on 1 February, when 72 Ahly supporters died after clashing with rivals Masry. The new domestic season is still uncertain, despite repeated reports of a start date.
