Belgian side Lierse have appointed Hany Ramzy as head coach, to succeed Chris Janssens on Monday.
"It is with great regret that the board of K. Lierse S.K. has announced its decision to part company with trainer Chris Janssens," a statement read on the club’s website.
"The board and the club are grateful to Chris for what he has done for Lierse. He ensured the club enjoyed a steady season last year, much against the expectations of the outside world.
"This year Lierse has been confronted with hard reality. The team currently stands in 14th place in the league with just 13 points from 15 matches. This situation demanded intervention."
The club’s Egyptian owner Magued Sami has decided to name the former Pharaohs icon Hany Ramzy as Janssens' successor.
The former Enppi and Egypt U-23 coach has already been with the team for a month working as a technical consultant, but after the team’s latest 3-1 home defeat against Beerschot, he was promoted to the driving seat.
Ramzy will be on a rescue mission, as Lierse are just two points above the relegation zone.
The 43-year-old coach will have some familiar faces to work with, as fellow countrymen Ahmed Samir Farag, Ahmed ‘Okka’ Said, Ahmed Abou Mosallem, Hussein Yasser and Mohamed ‘Dodo’ Elgabas are on the squad.
