Ahly midfielder Waild Soliman announces he will have back surgery when the African Champions return from Tunisia.

“I am suffering a cut in a cartilage. I started the match injured, but this is the least one can do for this important title,” the 27-year-old player told Egyptian television.

Soliman scored the second goal in the 61st minute of Saturday’s 2-1 win over Esperance of Tunisia in the second leg of CAF Champions League final in Rades.

“I will undergo further scans and examinations in Cairo to check how serious is the injury,” he added.

Soliman fell in the pitch from back pain ten minutes after scoring, forcing coach Hossam El-Badry to replace him with Mauritania's Dominique Da Silva.

The Egyptian giants won a record-extending seventh Champions League title, overcoming Esperance 3-2 in aggregate.
