Sunderland wing-back Ahmed Elmohamady believes he will improve next season in the elite English Premier League.
The Egyptian international made a fine start to life in England after joining Sunderland on a season-long loan from Egyptian side ENPPI last summer.
The Black Cats’ coach, Steve Bruce, said he was determined to sign Elmohamady on a permanent deal and the player is equally eager to continue his European adventure.
“I like everything here - the people and the players - and I hope I can sign a new contract in the summer,” Elmohamady told the Sunderland Echo on Wednesday.
“I think I'll be a better player here next season, too, with more games. I'll have learned a lot by then.”
“I've had a great time here at Sunderland. There's been no problems, everything here is perfect.”
Although Elmohamady has set up just one goal since his arrival, he poses constant threats to opponents with his penetration skills down the right flank and pinpoint crosses.
“The football is very different to how it is in Egypt. The Premier League is the best league in the world. It's quick and strong,” the 23-year-old added.
