Portuguese coach Jorvan Vieira is still under contract with Zamalek, asserts the Cairo giants, who are currently considering penalising him for signing a contract with UAE without permission from management.
Vieira's fate with Zamalek is already uncertain, as his contract with the club was technically set to expire at the end of June. All they way up until now in July, he has declined offers to renew his contract.
Aggravating the matter, the former Iraq coach left Cairo on Friday ahead of the start of the recent massive anti-government rallies that calls for a "withdrawal of confidence" from President Mohamed Morsi.
"Vieira left the club for UAE without permission. The club will resume trainings on Tuesday and he must be here," Zamalek's Vice President Sabry Serag told the club's official website.
"The board asked the legal affairs office to discuss the whole situation to decide on appropriate sanctions against the coach.
"We won't terminate Vieira's contract for the time being, since it is still valid until the end of the current season. He will not leave until that moment," asserted Serag.
Earlier last week, the Egyptian Premier League was postponed indefinitely due to the ongoing security concerns.
After getting rest on Monday, the Whites resumed trainings on Tuesday under the guidance of Assistant Coach Osama Nabih.
Despite the league suspension, Zamalek is preparing for the anticipated clash against rivals Ahly in the CAF Champions League group stage on 21 July.
