Egypt midfielder Hossam Ghaly kept his place in the starting line-up of his new team Lierse, but he failed to save them from a heavy 3-0 defeat against Standard Liege on Sunday.
The 31-year-old midfielder, has made his debut for Lierse last week when he played through the full 90 minutes during the 2-1 loss to Zulte-Waregem in the Swiss league opener.
Ghaly, who joined Lierse this summer on a free transfer after his contract with Egyptian giants Ahly expired, was also included in the Belgian club's starting lineup tonight. He remained infield until the 76th minute.
Ghaly's countryman Ahmed Samir Farag, who plays as a winger, also played from the start and remained on the filed until the final whistle.
Lierse, owned by Belgian-Egyptian businessman Maged Samy, ended last season's Belgian league at the 14th place with 24 points, 43 behind title winners Anderlecht.
