Egyptian club Zamalek are celebrating their first win in the group stage of the CAF Champions League.

The club chairman congratulated the team after Sunday's victory over South Africa's Orlando Pirates, showing full support to the technical staff and players.

"All team members have expressed their commitment to the club despite the difficult circumstances," Zamalek Chairman Mamduh Abbas was quoted as saying on the club's official website.

"The team is determined to continue its success and qualify for the semifinal," he added.

The Cairo giants, who have collected only four points from a possible twelve, have not lost hope of qualifying for the semifinals despite tough competition in Group A.

"All teams have opportunities now. So we all need to cooperate to help Zamalek continue its success," assistant coach Osama Nabih said.

The Whites are level with Congo's Leopards and three behind joint leaders Ahly and Pirates with two matches remaining.

"The victory is dedicated to the loyal fans who support the team no matter what," coach Helmy Toulan said after hailing attacking duo Ahmed Gafar and Mahmoud Abdel-Razik 'Shikabala' for their performances.

"They both played an attacking role that enabled the team to reach the opponents' target and inspired the team to the victory," he added.
