Egypt have called up 23 locally-based players for a training camp before next month's World Cup qualifiers against Ghana.

American coach Bob Bradley had already called up ten foreign-based players for the camp that will start on Wednesday 25 September at Dar El-Defaa stadium in Cairo. It had been due to begin on 26 September but was brought forward one day.

"It is logical to pick players who participated in Guinea camp," assistant coach Diaa El-Sayed told Ahram Sports.

"Only Zamalek striker Mohamed Ibrahim is an exception. He hasn't been called up earlier but he caught the eye during Zamalek's 4-1 win over Leopards of Congo [in CAF Champions League] on Sunday," he added.

Goalkeeper coach Zaki Abdel-Fattah commented: "Experience was the key factor for calling Ahmed El-Shennawy [of Masry] as almost all goalkeepers are delivering good performances but El-Shennawy is more ready."

The Pharaohs will play Ghana in Accra on 15 October, in a playoff in the African section of qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The holders of seven African Cups of Nations are bidding for their first qualification to the most prestigious tournament since 1990.

The second leg will be in Egypt in mid-November. It is unconfirmed whether fans will be permitted to attend the home leg amid security concerns.

The 23 local-based players called are as followed:

Goalkeepers: Shefir Ekrami, Ahmed El-Shennawy and Mohamed Sobhi

Defenders: Wael Gomaa, Mohamed Naguib, Rami Rabia, Ahmed Said 'Oka', Ahmed Fathi, Ahmed Shedid, Sayed Moawad and Mohamed Abdel-Shafi

Midfielders: Hossam Ashour, Omar Gaber, Hosni Abd-Rabou, Amr El-Solaya, Abdallah El-Said and Walid Soliman

Forwards: Mohamed Ibrahim, Mohamed Abou-Treika, Ahmed Eid Abdel-Malek, Mahmoud Abdel-Razik 'Shikabala', Ahmed Hamoudy and Ahmed Temsah
