Zamalek football director Ibrahim Hassan has demanded that the White Knights’ supporters attend the round 32 second-leg of the African champions League against Tunisian club Africian in large numbers after they lost 4-2 on Sunday.
Instead of focusing on Zamalek’s poor defence, former Ahly and Zamalek defender directed his aggression at the Cameroonian referee, announcing that the official wasn’t adequately qualified to officiate a match of such importance.
“We rejected the referee from the beginning, as he was too young and weak. He has also been named to officiate the Tunisian Olympic national team match next week and this is quite controversial,” Hassan stated on a TV programme.
Nevertheless, the 44-year old tactician seemed optimistic about reaching the next round, declaring that the Cairo giants are capable of winning on aggregate after the upcoming second-leg at home.
On the other hand, Club Africian assistant coach Lotfy El-Rwessy emphasised that Zamalek’s poor defending was the main reason for his side’s victory, promising to draw another win in Cairo clash.
“We were dominating most of the match but Zamalek’s defending mistakes eased our mission,” El-Rwessy said in the press conference.
