Egyptian giants Zamalek has denied rumors that they are about to sign Egyptian forward Mohamed Zidan.

Circulating reports on the social media and a Facebook page claiming to be Zidan's official page said the 32-year-old would sign a contract by the end of the week.

"These reports are totally false. We haven't been in contact with Zidan or intend to sign him," board member Ayman Younes was quoted as saying on Ahram Sport.

"We are building a new team and we are only looking for young players capable of delivering for years to come," he added.

Zidan joined the Emirati side Bani Yas in 2012 after more than a decade in Germany’s Bundesliga playing at Werder Bremen, Hamburg, Mainz and Dortmund.

He sustained several injuries that knocked him out of the squad, leading the club to release him after only one season.

He underwent surgery last year and has been a free agent since last summer but didn’t announce his retirement.
