AC Milan's Ghanaian midfielder Michael Essien will be sidelined for a couple weeks, the Italian giants announced on Thursday.
The international midfielder sustained a thigh injury during his side 3-0 win over Chievo, last Saturday when he replaced compatriot Sulley Muntari at half time.
"AC Milan announce that Michael Essien has sustained an injury to thesemi imembranosus of his right thigh," read a statement on the club’s official website reads on Thursday.
"The player will undergo further examination in around ten days’ time."
Essien made six appearances with the Rossoneri since his arrival from Chelsea last January.
