Zamalek striker Ahmed Gaafar has officially signed a 3-year contract extension, the Cairo giants announced early on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old attacker joined Zamalek in the summer of 2009 and has performed well over the last four years to establish himself as one of the team's key elements.
The renewal for Gaafar comes as a surprise for Zamalek fans as he was reportedly put on the transfer list by coach Ahmed 'Mido' Hossam and rumoured to be leaving as a result of a delayed financial dues.
Gaafar agreed to step down some of his late financial dues against signing the new contract. He will receive LE1.2 million per season.
Gaafar is the second player to put pen to paper for the Whites this summer, as teammate Ahmed Eid Abdel-Malek has signed a new two-year contract extension on Monday.
