Zamalek's new boss Jaime Pacheco says that while he was not the one in charge in Monday's draw against Wadi Degla, he vows to amend the Whites' mistakes in the near future.
Pacheco made his first debut for Zamalek as an observer from the bench, watching as the Cairo giants were dealt their third successive goalless draw against Wadi Degla.
Despite the presence of the new boss, Zamalek's performance was modest from the match start as the club’s strikers continued to waste opportunities for goals.
"Assistant coach Mohamed Salah was the one in charge of the team," Pacheco said after the match.
"I had full confidence in him and was there only to boost the player morale and stand behind technical staff.
"I saw a pattern in player’s mistakes but refused to intervene out of respect for assistant coach Salah.”
"Degla played a defensive game, but we still have trouble reaching the goal. I know the exact problem and will work to fix it in the coming days," the 57-year-old Portuguese coach added.
Zamalek, who seek their first league title since 2004, are currently at ninth place in the league table with six points, five behind leaders Dakhlya.
