Zamalek announced on Thursday that they reached a final agreement with Portuguese coach Jesualdo Ferreira to replace his compatriot Jaime Pacheco, who left Zamalek in an acrimonious manner at the beginning of the year.
"We reached a final agreement with Portuguese coach Jesualdo Ferreira," Zamalek's spokesman Ahmed Mourtada Mansour said in a television interview on Wednesday.
"The contract will run until the end of this season with an option to extend it for another season."
Mansour, the son of chairman Mortada Mansour, revealed that interim coach Mohamed Salah will remain part of the team's technical staff despite the arrival of two Portuguese assistants with Ferreira.
Ferreira, 68, has a plenty of experience in European football, particularly in his homeland. His only spell in Africa was with Morocco's FAR Rabat in 1995-1996.
His best achievements and most successful stint came with Portuguese giants Porto, whom he led to three league titles and two cup triumphs during his four seasons at the helm.
Zamalek are leading the league table with 44 points, three clear of second-placed ENPPI. Both sides meet on Sunday.
