Forwards Mohamed Nagi 'Gedo' and Ahmed Abdel-Zaher are out of the Ahly squad for the anticipated game against Ismaily Wednesday, in match-day 24 of the Egyptian Premier League.

The Cairo Giants technical staff, under the leadership of Spanish coach Juan Carlos Garrido, have announced the 20-man squad for the Ismaily clash without the two stars.

The return of midfielder Hossam Ashour is also one of the highlights in the squad after the 29-year-old player recovered from his thigh injury.

"The Ismaily game on Wednesday's will be very difficult especially as the players suffer from fatigue due to their heavy schedule. We play a game every three days in high temperatures," Ahly skipper Hossam Ghaly told their official website.

The CAF Cup holders made it to the round of 16 in the Champions League after crashing Rwanda's APR Saturday amid their bid for the ninth title. They are playing  Moghreb Tetouan of Morocco 18 April.

"There is no choice but to win against Ismaily. The competition is very tough and we play for the title," the 33-year-old former Tottenham midfielder added.

The Red Devils are currently third in the table with 39 points from 20 games, nine behind arch-rivals Zamalek who occupy the driving seat though have played one game more.

The title holders, who are bidding for the ninth successive title, finalised their preparations for their match against the coastal club on Tuesday afternoon.

The yellow-jersey team, Ismaily, collected 32 points from 21 games filling the seventh place.

After the game, eight players from Ahly will serve their national duty with Egypt team under new Argentinean coach Hector Cuper. Check them here

The competition was frozen for 50 days after 20 Zamalek fans died in front of Cairo Air Defense stadium as police used teargas in an attempt to ban them from attending a league game against ENPPI.

The squad is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Sherif Ekrami, Ahmed Adel and Abdel-Kafi Ragab

Defenders: Saad Samir, Sherif Hazem, Mohamed Hamdy, Bassem Ali, Mohamed Hani and Hussein El-Sayed
