Egyptian side Smouha slumped to a 0-1 loss to Leopards of Congo in the first leg of the African Champions League round of 16 on Sunday.
Leopards scored the match's only goal after 30 minutes via a penalty.
Smouha defender Yasser Ibrahim scored but his goal was disallowed for offside.
The Alexandria-based club should win when they host Leopards in the second leg on 1 May if they are to book a historic group-stage place.
Smouha, who finished as runners-up in the Egyptian Premier League last season after proving to be the competition's Dark Horses, are on their debut appearance in the continent's elite competition.
