Ahly coach Fathi Mabrouk revealed that continuing to win matches is important before the team's crucial game against Tunisian side Club Africain in the first leg of the African Confederation Cup’s round of 16.
Mabrouk's comments came after Ahly's 1-0 win against Dakhleya in the Egyptian Premier League on Wednesday.
Ahly Youngster Ramadan Sobhi came off the bench to strike late and give Ahly their third win in as many games under new coach Fathi Mabrouk. The win keeps alive their slim hopes of retaining the Egyptian Premier League title.
"The team played a brilliant game against Dakhleya. The latter was an organised opponent that caused delay in our victory," Mabrouk was quoted as saying on the club's official website after the game.
The Cairo giants are set to host Tunisian side Club Africain in the first leg of the African Confederation Cup's round of 16 on Sunday after quitting the CAF Champions League.
"The Club Africain game will be tougher than the domestic games but I trust the players of being able to achieve the victory," the Ahly coach concluded.
