Ahly continue losing key players to injuries, with rsiging star attacking midfielder Mahmoud Trezeguet the latest to join the list

Ahly midfielder Mahmoud "Trezeguet" Hassan's season is effectively over after he was ruled out of action for six weeks due to injury, the club announced.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder dislocated his shoulder during Ahly's 2-1 victory over Club Africain in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup 16th round on Sunday.

"Trezeguet underwent successful surgery to repair a dislocated shoulder injury he sustained during the Club Africain game," read a statement on the club's official website after the game.

"He will be out of actions for six weeks after the scan showed that he needs time to recover from the injury."

Trezeguet came up through the youth ranks of Ahly and joined the senior team squad in 2012, shining in three consecutive seasons. He has scored five goals with the team in the Egyptian Premier Leagueso far this season.

Despite missing some key players due to injuries and suspensions, Ahly managed to come from behind and earn a valuable home win, thanks to goals from strikers Ahmed Abdel-Zaher and Emad Meteb.

The second leg of the Ahly-Club Africain will be played in Tunisia on 7 June.

The CAF Confederation Cup title-holders have been missing a host of key figures to injuries, such as forwards Walid Soliman and Momen Zakaria, rising winger Mohamed Hani, and midfielder Hossam Ashour.
