Ahly coach Fathi Mabrouk has said that he hopes his team's injured players will recover and return to the squad before the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup round of 16 game against Club Africain next week.
The Cairo giants are scheduled to face Tunisian side Club Africain on 6 June, after a first leg result of 2-1 for Ahly.
Ahly has lost several key players -- Amr Gamal, Moemen Zakarey, Mahmoud Hassan 'Trezeguet' and Ahmed Abdel-Zaher -- due to injuries since Mabrouk's arrival to lead the team, replacing Spanish coach Garrido.
"The injury of key players has put the team in a critical situation, as we suffer when we play league and African games," Mabrouk was quoted as saying on the club's official website on Saturday.
"I hope all injured players recover before the Club Africain game," he added.
CAF Confederation Cup title holders Ahly are to travel to Tunisia to play the second leg, expected to be a tough challenge for the team as they are still missing players due to injuries.
The absence of key players due to injuries and suspensions also saw the Egyptian champions drop to place third in the Egyptian Premier League teams' table with 58 points, eleven behind leaders and arch-rivals Zamalek.
