Gouna become fifth team to be relegated from Egyptian league

Ahram Online , Sunday 12 Jul 2015

Modest side Gouna were relegated to the second division for the first time since sealing promotion to the Egyptian Premier League in 2009 after they lost 2-1 to Wadi Degla on Saturday.

A brace by Nigerian in-form striker Stanley Ohawuchi on the last matchday condemned Gouna to their 12th defeat in 38 matches as they finished fifth from bottom to wave goodbye to the Premier League.

They join Damanhour, Assiouti Sport, Nasr and Ragaa in the second division.

Five teams are relegated this season for the first time as the Egyptian Football Association seeks to decrease Premier League participants to 18 teams next season.
