Ahly boss Fathi Mabrouk criticised Egypt coach Hector Cuper after the latter dropped Red Devils' player Hossam Ghaly and Abdallah El-Saed from the squad.

As the Pharaohs are gearing up to face Chad in the African qualifiers, Cuper announced his 27-man squad on Sunday for the 6 September game.

Despite Cuper naming eight players from Ahly, Mabrouk said that he cannot understand why the Argentine has dropped El-Saed and Ghaly.

"El-Saed and Ghaly have been excellent of late. I think they deserved to be called up," Mabrouk told the club's channel on Monday.

"I respect his opinion but I think that his decision to drop the two players is poor."

Ghaly and El-Saed have produced a string of strong displays with Ahly during the past two months, helping the Cairo giants reach the Confederation Cup semis.
