Zamalek's prolific striker Basem Morsi is fit for Sunday's Confederation Cup match against Tunisia's Etoile Sportive de Sahel, the Cairo giants announced on Saturday.

"Morsi is fit for Etoile de Sahel match," Zamalek said via its official website on Saturday.

The Whites will be hosted by the Tunisians in the first leg of Africa's secondary club competition semi-final. The return leg will be played in Cairo on 3 October.

Morsi’s participation in the match was uncertain after the Egyptian international sustained an ankle injury in Friday’s training session in Tunisia, but medical scans revealed that the injury was not serious.

The 24-year-old attacker, who joined Zamalek in 2014, has delivered outstanding performances this season, helping the Whites become double-champions after clinching the Egypt Cup and the Egyptian Premier League trophy, ending their 11-year drought.

Ahly, Zamalek's bitter rivals, will play Orlando Pirates in South Africa in the same round Saturday.

Should both Ahly and Zamalek advance, they will face off in their first ever meeting in the Confederation Cup, as the two teams normally clash in the elite Champions League.
