The EFA competitions’ committee handed Ahly’s midfielder Hossam Ashour a three-match ban after receiving a red card during the game that ended in a 2-2 draw.

Ashour was sent off in the 90th minute after attacking Zamalek’s midfielder Hani Said during the run of play.

Said was also sanctioned with a one-match ban and EGP 5000 fine for assaulting Ahly’s striker Dominique Da Silva and trying to crash the opponents' dressing room after the game.

Zamalek’s coach Hossam Hassan will also have to watch the next game from the stands due to his behavior towards Ahly’s coach Manuel Jose Da Silva.

A touchline confrontation between Ahly coach Manuel Jose and his Zamalek counterpart Hossam Hassan erupted following Ahly’s late equalizer. Hassan was very angry because of Ahly’s players’ "lack of fair play"; Two of his players were down on the pitch suffering from injuries while Jose’s men kept playing on.

The competitions committee handed both Ahly and Zamalek a EGP 150,000 fine due to their fans' behavior during and after the derby.
