Zamalek skipper Hazem Emam is set to be fined by the club’s board for ill conduct during the team’s 3-2 Egypt Super Cup defeat to Ahly on Thursday.
Emam, who was already ruled out of the 18-man squad through injury, invaded the pitch as he headed towards Ahly winger Ramadan Sobhi, whose act of standing on the ball seemed to provoke the ire of the entire Zamalek squad.
The match was then halted for nearly 10 minutes due to the scuffle that erupted as a result, before the referee resumed play after the situation had been contained.
It remains to be seen what the sum of the fine handed to the Zamalek right back will be, as he also engaged with Sobhi in a similar incident during the 2-0 league defeat to Ahly after the 18-year-old winger previously did the same thing.
Ahly interim coach Abdel-Aziz Abdel-Shafi ‘Zizo’, who only took charge of the Zamalek game, announced after the match that Sobhi would be sanctioned for his demeanor.
