Zamalek have made major changes in their technical staff, replacing two assistant coaches upon the request of Brazilian head coach Marcos Paqueta, the club announced late on Tuesday.
Dropping seven points since the season started, the champions Zamalek are fourth on the league table with 17 points, five behind leaders Maqassa who have played three more games.
After Monday's 1-1 draw with Petrojet, the board decided to freeze all the players' financial dues; a decision that was followed by changing Paqueta's assistants.
"We have accepted the resignation of assistant coach Tarek Mostafa," read a statement on Zamalek's official website before the Egyptian media reported that his fellow Sami El-Shesheny was sacked by the management from the same post.
"The changes in the technical staff come after discussions with Paqueta, who did not ask for the appointment a Brazilian assistant as some reports claimed," the statement added.
President offers coach full support
Zamalek, who recently appointed Paqueta as the new coach, have played eight league matches. They have won five, drawn two and lost one match.
"After a meeting with Paqueta, club president Mortada Mansour offered the head coach full support to remain on top in the coming period," the statement of the league and cup title holders concluded.
Zamalek will face Maqassa in their next league match on Saturday.
