Despite beating rivals Ismaily 1-0 in the 15th match day of the Egyptian Premier League on Wednesday, Ahly's festival following the victory has been suspended with key players injured during the game.

Ahly skipper and regular midfielder Hossam Ghaly was sent off during the game with a knee injury and he could be a major obstacle for the coming league game against Ittihad of Alexandria on Saturday.

"Hossam Ghaly suffered a blow to his knee and he failed to complete the game," read a statement on the club's official website after the game.

"Ghaly will undergo medical tests on Thursday to determine the seriousness of his injury and his situation for Saturday's game against Ittihad of Alexandria," the statement added.

The Red Devils Ghanaian striker John Antwi also joined the injury list after tearing his knee during the Ismaily win.

"Antwi will undergo medical tests before joining trainings for Ittihad of Alexandria game," Ahly's doctor told the club's official website.

Ahly winger Sabri Rahil also sustained a knee injury that forced the team's coach Abdel-Aziz Abdel-Shafi to change his mind regarding the sequence of the substitutes during Ismaily game.

"Rahil sustained a knee injury and he will also undergo medical tests to determine his situation from the coming game against Ittihad as well as joining the trainings."

"I intended to change Antwi after one hour but Ghaly and Rahil's injuries changed my mind forcing me to make another change during the game," Ahly coach Abdel-Shafi told the post game press conference.

The Cairo giants will continue lacking the services of their regular attacking midfielder Walid Soliman and Gabon striker Malick Evouna, who missed the Ismaily game, when they face Ittihad El-Shorta in the Egyptian Premier League on Saturday due to injuries.

Soliman has been out of action for almost a month after tearing his ankle early in January. Gabon striker Malick Evouna is missing the team's squad due to a tear in his thigh.

Ahly, who are currently second on the table with 29 points, one point behind leaders and arch rivals Zamalek, are preparing to face Ittihad of Alexandria in the 16th match day of the Egyptian Premier League on Saturday.

The Reds are bidding to regain their favourite championship that they have won 37 times, after losing out to arch rivals Zamalek last season.
