Cairo giants Zamalek are facing a setback as key trio Ahmed El-Shennawy, Ayman Hefni and Ahmed Dewidar will be sidelined for a while due to different injuries.

The Whites barely secured a 1-1 draw Tuesday against hosts MO Bejaia of Algeria in the African Champions League last-16 return leg to reach the prestigious tournament group stage.

Zamalek were defending a 2-0 first-leg lead but were pegged back by a determined Bejaia, who were roared on by a passionate home crowd.

Keeper El-Shennawy was forced off the pitch on the stroke of half-time after suffering what appeared to be a muscle injury from colliding with an opponent inside the area.

"El-Shennawy is suffering from a hamstring strain and could be sidelined from two to three weeks," Zamalek's official site revealed in a statement after the match.

"Midfielder Ayman Hefni will be out for a week after picking a calf strain [in the game] against Bejaia," the statement added.

Also on Tuesday, defender Ahmed Dewidar also suffered a hamstring strain that will sideline him for 10 days.

The Egyptian league and cup champions Zamalek already miss the services of skilled winger Mostafa Fathi due to injury.

The team's next match will be on Monday against Haras El-Hodoud in the Egyptian Premier League.

Zamalek are at second place on the Egyptian League table with 42 points, 11 behind leaders and arch rivals Ahly.
