Ahly will not punish Algerian striker Amir Sayoud for his strange penalty kick against Kima Aswan in the round of 32 of the Egypt Cup on Tuesday.

“Sayoud needs more experience, that’s all,” The Red Devils' Portuguese assistant coach Pedro told Ahram Online.

The 23-year old forward trembled before he kicked the ball, fell to the ground and was given a yellow card for “disregarding the opponent”, as Refereeing Committee President Mohamed Hossam termed his move.

“We will not punish him for sure. We will just work on developing his shooting skills during training,” Pedro added.

Ahly progressed to round of 16 easily as they defeated their second division opponent 4-0.

“The coaching staff are satisfied with the team’s performance in the Cup and we are to resume training on Wednesday for Wydad of Morocco in the Africa Champions League next Wednesday,” Ahly’s football director, Sayed Abdel-Hafiz said.

And regarding the clashes between the police and Ahly supporters that left around 140 injured, Abdel-Hafiz said, “I demand self-control for the sake of our country’s security,”
