Egypt will host the UAE's Super Cup at Cairo's Air Defence Stadium on 13 September, the chief executive of the United Arab Emirates' professional association football league Sohail Alareefi confirmed on Wednesday.

"We chose Egypt over other offers, including London, due to the strong relationship between the two countries," Alareefi said at a press conference in Cairo.

UAE league champions Ahli Dubai will be facing Cup winners Al-Jazira in the Super Cup match.

In October last year, the UAE hosted the Egyptian Super Cup between Cairo rivals Ahly and Zamalek, who played in front of more than 25,000 fans at Al-Ain's Hazza bin Zayed Stadium.
