Razak Omotoyossi is in line to make his long-awaited debut for Zamalek in Friday’s Egyptian Premier League game against El-Entag El-Harby after resolving his dispute with the club.

The Benin frontman, who joined from Swedish side Syrianska for $150,000 as Zamalek sought to reinforce their attacking options, threatened to leave the cash-strapped club in protest at their failure to fulfil their financial obligations towards him.

However, Zamalek, who are relying on the financial backing of businessmen supporters of the club, resolved the dispute after paying Omotoyossi his overdue money, a few days before they meet El-Entag El-Harby in Suez.

“Omotoyossi is in our plans to play against El-Entag El-Harby. He has been in a very good shape in training lately,” Zamalek assistant coach Ismail Youssef told the club’s official website.

The 25-year-old’s availability will come as a major boost for coach Hassan Shehata, whose Zamalek side were held to a 1-1 draw by Talae El-Gaish in their second league game.

The White Knights’ lack of cutting edge was clear against a resolute El-Gaish side, who could have also claimed all three points after launching some dangerous counter attacks.

Amr Zaki is Zamalek’s only reliable striker, with the likes of Ahmed Gaafar and new signing Hussein Hamdy failing to impress as his partners up front.

Ahmed Hossam “Mido”, who scored on his first appearance since joining Zamalek last January when the team thrashed Ghazl El-Mahalla 6-1 in their opening game of the season, is still suffering from fitness and weight problems.

He missed training for two days without permission, prompting Zamalek to fine him.
