Ahly exclude frozen players from African squad

Ahly represent Egypt in the African Champions League this season alongside runners-up Zamalek

Ahly palyers Mido Gaber, Bassem Ali and Mohamed Hamdy Zaki have been excluded from the team's African squad, football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz announced on Monday.

Meanwhile, Ghanaian striker John Antwi, who joined Maqassa on loan this winter, has also been excluded from the African squad.

The Cairo giants' coach Hossam El-Badry sidelined Mido Gaber and Mohamed Hamdy Zaki from the team's regular squad for domestic games in the Egyptian Premier League, driving speculation that the duo will leave the team during the winter transfer window in January.

Egyptian Premier League title-holders, Ahly, will represent Egypt in the African Champions League this season alongside runners-up Zamalek.

Ahly's African squad:

Goalkeepers: Sherif Ekrami, Ahmed Adel, Mohamed El-Shennawy

Defenders: Ali Maaloul, Hussein El-Sayed, Saad Samir, Rami Rabia, Ahmed Hegazy, Mohamed Naguib, Mohamed Hani, Sabri rahil, Ahmed Fathi

Midfielders: Walid Soliman, Momen Zakaria, Saleh Gomaa, Hossam Ashour, Amr El-Solaya, Hossam Ghaly, Abdallah El-Saied, Karim Nedved

Strikers: Emad Meteb, Amr Gamal, Marwan Mohsen, Junior Ajayi
