Ahly's morning training session on Tuesday was brought to a brief pause when the team's third-choice goalkeeper Mosad Awad passed out.

Awad collapsed to the ground and passed out for a few minutes when keeper coach Tarek Soliman shot a powerful ball that hit him in the face.

"The team's doctor, Khaled Mahmoud, quickly checked the player and organised examinations and scans to confirm he was okay," the club's official website stated on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old keeper has started his junior career at Ismaily before moving to the Cairo-based club in 2013.

He is the team's third choice in his position after Sherif Ekramy and Ahmed Adel Abdel-Monem.

The team, who lost the Super Cup trophy on Friday to arch-rivals Zamalek, are preparing for the league resumption on Wednesday, when they will play Ismaily.

Awad has been excluded from the team's squad for Wednesday's game.

Ahly are currently in the driving seat of the league table with 45 points, four ahead of Maqassa and eleven more than Zamalek, who have two games in hand.
