Zamalek coach Mohamed Helmi led the team's Wednesday training session ahead of a clash with Maqassa in the Egyptian Premier League Friday, amid reports suggesting the coach was soon to be sacked.

In mid-February, there were reports that Helmi would be replaced by a foreigner after the club's boss Mortada Mansour issued a warning to the technical staff on the back of a humble performance against El-Entag El-Harby.

Some reports suggested that the Maqassa game could be the last for Helmi if he appears to make any mistakes, especially in the squad lineup as Mansour has blamed him for sidelining fit players.

This is not the first time Mansour has hinted at Helmi's exit; it has happened at least three times since the coach's appointment in late November.

Zamalek are currently third in the league table with 40 points, 12 behind Ahly and only one behind Maqassa.

The White Knights have played two fewer games than Ahly. The team will catch up with Friday's game on matchday five and Tuesday's match with Talae El-Geish on matchday two.
