Zamalek will be looking to maintain the lead of their group in the CAF Champions League when they host Algerian outfit USM Alger in the third round of the Group B games on Friday in Alexandria's Borg El-Arab stadium.
The Cairo giants made a fine start to their Group B campaign, beating Zimbabwe’s Caps United 2-0 at home before settling for a 0-0 draw with Ahli Tripoli in Tunisia to move top with 4 points while USM Alger placed second with 3 points.
"Zamalek players are concentrating on the game against USM Alger as we are working to keep our group lead," football director Khaled Galal was quoted as saying on the club's official website.
"We have to win the game against USM Alger to continue leading our group," Galal added.
Zamalek will do without effective midfielder Tarek Hamed, who is suspended with two yellow cards, or attacking midfielder Ayman Hefny due to injury. Shawqy El-Saied and Osama Ibrahim will also miss the game.
The Whit Nights have notably improved since the arrival of Portuguese coach Augusto Inacio, who is rotating his squad to keep them fresh for the Champions League group stage campaign.
The team defeated Arab Contractors, Wadi Degla and Dakhleya in their previous matches in the Egyptian Premier League and lead their group in the CAF Champions League.
