Zamalek president Mortada Mansour accused the team's keeper Ahmed El-Shennawy of faking injury to get out of playing in Zamalek's game against Talae El-Geish because he “does not fell like playing.”

The international keeper left the team's camp hours before their clash against the military side in the Egypt Cup quarters, saying he is suffering from a back injury.

Coach Augusto Inacio now has no choice but to start with young keeper Omar Salah, as substitute keeper Mahmoud 'Gennesh' Abdel-Rehim has been out of action for eight weeks.

Mansour has also accused Gennesh of the same charge, saying he is faking injury because he refuses the role of second keeper.

"There is a conspiracy against the team," president Mansour told the club's official website on Thursday.

"The two keepers will be responsible if the team struggles against El- Geish."

A few weeks after losing the domestic league title, Zamalek were hit with another blow as the five-time African Champions were eliminated from the Champions League group stages.

Zamalek suffered a frustrating 2-2 draw at home against Libyan side Ahly Tripoli on Sunday to end third of their group behind Algerian side USMA and Ahly Tripoli.

The winners of the four past editions of the Egypt Cup, Zamalek are looking to win the title to rescue a season that witnessed many failures.
