Ahly have fined veteran striker Emad Meteb for 'his behaviour during Jordan's Faisaly game" in the Arab Championship, the club announced Sunday.

"Meteb has made two big mistakes: he refused to obey the technical staff and he spoke to the media despite a previous decision banning all players from speaking to the media," the club's football director, Sayed Abde-Hafiz, told Ahly's official website.

For his part, Meteb, 34, stated to the media that the team's techical staff didn't ask him directly to warm up to play, and that "somebody wants to put [me] inside a fake dispute."

"I will always want to remain at my boyhood club, my home, the club I belong to, until club officials tell me they don't want me," Meteb said. Real all Meteb's statements here

Ahly lost to Faisaly 1-0 in the Arab Championship opener in Cairo. They will be looking to recover from the opening loss when they face UAE side Al-Wahda Tuesday, before they play Algeria's NA Hussein Friday.

The winners of each of the three groups will advance to the semis along with the best second-placed side.
