Etoile du Sahel assistant coach Saif Ghezal insisted that his side are not afraid of Ahly, saying they expect a repeat scenario of their 2007 African Champions League duel when they meet the Egyptian giants in a two-legged semi-final.
The Tunisian side, who qualified for the semis after a 2-0 aggregate win over Libya's Ahly Tripoli, will host Ahly in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final in Sousse on Sunday before heading to Alexandria on 22 October for the second leg.
"We don't fear Ahly," Ghezal told Tunisian newspaper Assabah on Tuesday.
"Etoile du Sahel are capable of overcoming the Ahly obstacle and qualifying for the final."
Ahly booked a last-four berth at the expense of another Tunisian side in Esperance, beating them 4-3 on aggregate.
Despite being held to a 2-2 draw at home by Esperance, the record eight-time winners went through with a 2-1 comeback win in Rades.
Ghezal is unfazed by Ahly's superb comeback, however.
Ten years ago, Etoile won Africa's coveted trophy following a famous 3-1 victory over Ahly in Cairo in the final following a 0-0 first-leg draw in Sousse.
"We are ready for a repeat scenario of 2007,'' Ghezal added.
