Egyptian giants Ahly will have to do without experienced midfielder Hossam Ashour in Saturday's second-leg clash of the African Champions League final against Wydad Casablanca away in Morocco.

"Ashour is still undergoing rehabilitation due to his groin muscle strain. He is very unlikely to play on Saturday," Ahly Doctor Khaled Mahmoud said on the club's official website.

The 31-year-old, who sustained a groin injury in Ahly's 4-1 win over Ragaa in an Egyptian league game early October, also missed the first-leg of the African Champions League final.

Ashour's absence deepens Ahly's trouble as left-winger Ali Maaloul and defender Rami Rabia are also doubtful for the game, also due to injury.

The holders of a record eight trophies failed to take a first-leg home advantage over Wydad on Saturday, despite their territorial dominance, losing the lead to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Ahly need to score an away goal to stand a chance of lifting their first Champions League trophy since 2013.
