Zamalek suffered their second league defeat this season after falling to Maqassa 3-1at Cairo stadium on Monday.
Ghanaian striker John Antwi scored twice in the first-half while in-form midfielder Hussein El-Shahat added the third in injury time to remain the league top scorers' list with eight goals.
Zamalek international keeper Mohamed El-Shennawy made a naive mistake in the third minute when he missed a pass to Maqassa's midfielder Hussein El-Shahat before teammate John Antwi followed his shot to score in an empty net.
Zamalek's Syrian fullback Moayad Ajan leveled the score in the 38 minute with a nice curvy shot from a free kick to score his maiden with the White Knights after joining the club in the summer.
Six minutes later, Antwi made it 2-1 with a pretty shot after receiving a nice pass from former Zamalek winger Hosni Fathi.
Zamalek's playmaker Ayman Hefny appeared in the second Half replacing defensive midfielder Ahmed Dawouda. The classy playmaker tried to make the difference but his efforts fell short due to the bad form of Zamalek's offensive trio Kabongo Kassongo, Abdallah Gomaa and Ahmed Madbouli.
Maqassa had the chance to kill the game on many occasions but their players squandered several goal-scoring opportunities against a fragile Zamalek defence.
In the first minute of stoppage time, El-Shahat received a nice pass from substitute Mohamed Toni to break Zamalek's offside trap and score the third goal after dodging-past keeper El-Shennawy.
