Ahly did not need to kick the ball on Monday to be crowned Champions as Masry were held to a scoreless draw by El-Entag El-Harbi to put the leaders beyond reach at the top of the Egyptian Premier League.

With six matches yet remaining to be played, the Red Devils – who have 75 points – have opened a 22-point gap ahead of second placed-Ismaily and 26 ahead of fourth-placed Masry who still have two matches in hand.

The Red Devils have extended their domination on the local scene by securing their 40th league title, far ahead of their closest rivals Zamalek, who claimed 12 accolades.

Coach Hossam El-Badry, who made it two out of two during his third spell at Ahly, has been praised for orchestrating this triumph through his tactical choices and entertaining displays.

Ahly have been playing in a league of their own, showing signs of superiority in every aspect of the game.

The Reds have the most fearsome attacking power with 67 goals scored in 28 games, and the least vulnerable defense with only 15 goals conceded and the league's top scorer with Moroccan ace Walid Azaro -- not to mention a crushing domination in almost every game they played.

El-Badry's men are on course to shatter a series of records this season.

With 17 goals so far, Azaro has already equaled the record of goals for a foreigner during one season, eclipsing Ismaily's Nigerian frontman John Utaka and former Ahly striker Flavio Amado of Angola, who both netted 17 in 2000 and 2007 respectively.

Ahly have 16 straight victories and need two more to break their own record of 17 straight wins in 2004/2005.

They are just four goals away from the record of 71 goals scored by Tersana in 1963/1964.

With 24 victories so far, they are also closing on the record of 26 wins in a single season (Ahly and Zamalek in 1974/1975 and 2014/2015 respectively) and are also 12 points behind Zamalek's record of 87 points in a single season in 2014/2015, when the league consisted of 20 teams before reverting to 18.

With six full weeks remaining, Ahly players seem capable of writing a new chapter in the history books.

On the other hand, Masry's draw against El-Entag El-Harbi cost them two precious points in their course for the second-place with Ismaily and Zamalek.

The Port Said side are fourth in the league table with 49 points, four points behind second-place Ismaily (53 points) and two off third-placed Zamalek (51 points).

Hossam Hassan's men still have the chance to advance into the second place as they have one match on their hands.
