Masry coach Hossam Hassan has revealed that he and his team are doing their best to go as far as possible in the CAF Confederation Cup ahead of facing Gabon's Mounana in the playoff round first leg on Friday in Libreville.

"We want to go as far as possible in the competition, so we have to win regardless of our opponents. At this stage, all the teams are good and we have to be well prepared for both legs. I'm positive we will have a place in the group stage," Hassan was quoted as saying on CAF official website.

"Mounana is a good team, and their loss to Ahly is in the past," Hassan said.

"They [Mounana] can't be judged by those defeats, as this is a totally different game in a different competition."

Mounana lost to Egypt's Ahly 4-0 in Cairo, before the Egyptian giants completed the double winning 3-1 in Libreville, to send the Gabonese side to the Confederation Cup playoffs.

"During the draw, I was praying to be drawn against them [Mounana], because we know them well now after watching their games against Ahly, and we got that. But this doesn't mean we are going to underestimate them, on the contrary, we respect them well," the Masry coach added.

The playoff round first leg is scheduled to be played on Friday 6 April 2018 at Stade Augustin Monedan de Siban in Libreville, with the return leg to be played in Port Said on Wednesday 18 April 2018.

The aggregate winner will qualify for the 2018 Total CAF Confederation Cup group stage.
